I met Sean Hudgeon Wardle in college at the University of Akron. I have known him longer than I have known almost anyone in this business.
After school we worked together at Barden Circ, all over the country. That kind of work teaches you fast who shows up. We came out here for the Times, and that is how two guys from Akron ended up in Southern California.
I Built His First Website

When Sean started Grassland, I built the first version of this site for him. It went up with a phone number, a list of services and a job page about 1,510 square feet of artificial turf. I wrote that post myself in 2016. The footer said Powered By Clickflame, and his old homepage called him a dream builder. That line is still here because it still fits.
Over The Years He Did A Lot
Look at the photos he sent me for this rebuild. Sod going in at dusk with the cones still out. Pavers set in gravel along a redwood fence. Flagstone patios, river rock creek beds, a whole pool yard reworked with curved walks. When I asked for pictures of him working he told me there weren't many, because he was working.

His customers say it better than I can. Here is one of them, word for word.
Sean created a wonderful patio space for my little yard. He had to dig, level and design the space for correct drainage. He is experienced, professional and offers many services. I gladly recommend him, and I plan to always use Sean for my projects.
And another.
We had an amazing experience with Grassland Landsacape and Lawncare. We are part of a fourplex HOA and needed all of the plants/trees around our building trimmed in preparation for termite fumigation. Our gardner let us know he could not do the job at the last minute - which is why we reached out to Grassland. Sean was upfront with the costs and let us know what he could do. He went above and beyond to trim our overgrown plants/trees and even worked until 10 pm at night to make sure everything was taken care of. He communicated well and the payment process was smooth. I will be using Sean and his team moving forward and strongly recommend for any landscape and lawncare services.
He Helped Build Supercanic
When I was building Supercanic out here, Sean helped me do it. He could have been working on his own thing, and he was there anyway. Then he went home to build his business back up again. That is who he is.
Why I Rebuilt This Site
When it came time to bring Grassland back, I did not want a template with his name on it. So Clickflame mapped every Long Beach neighborhood against USDA soil data, pulled the city rules on parkways and rebates into one place, and gave him a site that helps people even if they never call him. You can look up your neighborhood or see his work.
If you need a yard handled in Long Beach, call Sean at (562) 551-8873. I have known him for a long time, and I would not put my name on this if I did not mean it.
